F. A. Q.
Q. What are you selling?
A. Nothing. I am not in marketing. Professionally, I run a proprietary trading desk for the US branch of a Canadian securities firm. As the word “proprietary” implies, we cannot talk about the nature of our trading for trade secret reasons. We do not accept outside investors and I do not raise capital in any way. I am only representing myself here and no other firm or person.
Q. What is your personal mission.
A. In 1999, I set the mission for my business group to be: “We will behave such that, at the end of the day, everyone associated with our endeavor will be better for it.”
That worked so well, I’ve decided to make this my personal mission as well.
Q. Isn’t that exhausting? How can you possibly succeed at making everyone associated with your endeavors better for it?
A. I can’t, and I don’t. I often fail. But it is the mission nonetheless.
Q. What are you buying?
A. Occasionally, when I need to hire someone, I might notify personal contacts, and viewers of this web site of our needs. I do not invest in other people’s businesses, and generally don’t enjoy cold calls from salespeople who have found me here.
Q. May I contact you?
A. Yes. I am an “open networker” which means that I am generally happy to connect and correspond with people as long as they are respectful of my time and aren’t trying to sell me something.
